A Senior Citizen Experience of Youth in our Area.

26 Nov 2012

As everybody knows the youth in our area get bad press sometimes. Well, I recently had a good experience with some teenagers which I would like to share with you.

One evening during the week I went over to the Centre Shop to get a few things. Leaving my husband, who has Parkinson's, watching the T.V., and telling him not to answer the door that I was bringing the key with me. While in the shop I realised I didn't have my purse with me, and assumed I'd left it at home.

As I turned into the cul-de-sac where I live I noticed some teenagers hanging around my gate and my husband at the door waving something at me, which I thought was the phone, obviously I was a bit anxious. I didn't know what was going on.

But the teenagers (1 girl & 4 lads) approached me and told me they had found my purse in the cul-de-sac with my name and address in it and handed it into my husband.
It restored my faith. I thanked them, but never got their names.

So I would like to take this opportunity to praise them for their honesty and to thank them most sincerely. It wasn't that there was much money in the purse, but there were some sentimental items in it that would have saddened me to lose.

So, Martha from Pearse Grove would like to thank the teenagers (you know who you are), and ask people not to paint all our youth with the same brush, there are some lovely teenagers in our community.
