SDF 2013-Friday

22 Jul 2013

The week of South Docks Festivities took place on Friday, with the Annual Parade and Fair in Pearse Square.

The fantastic weather saw a large crowd gather at the centre from 11am onwards, were everyone was given fancy dress, balloons and face painting before taking to the streets. This year's theme, Bridging the Gap, saw wonderful centrepieces for the parade, with a wonderful house, bridge and skyscraper decorating the parade. The Garda Band provided music at the front of the parade, and were followed by the Dazzlettes and other youth groups who brought colour and life to the streets.

Following the parade, everyone was invited to celebrate in Pearse Square for the annual Fair in the Square. More bouncy castles than ever was located in the Square, along with Reiki demonstrations, a magic show, and performances from this year's Talent Show winners. Live music provided a fantastic background as young and old enjoyed the surroundings of Pearse Square on a sunny afternoon.

The very final event of the year saw the Jack Wright Memorial Pub Quiz held in Becky Morgan's Pub. This was the first year that the event was held on a Friday and it drew a huge crowd. Great fun was had by all, and it was a fantastic event to round up a memorable week of events.

Below are some pictures from Friday, with many more to follow. Be sure and check back soon for more up-dates and pictures.
